Make a Donation
100% of the donations made by our supporters, will go directly to the purchase, transportation, pad engineering, crane rentals, installation and signage for the Hamilton Afghanistan LAV III Monument.
We are able to do this because the North Wall Riders Association Steel City Chapter, is 100% volunteer based and we operate out of the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry Association which is provided to us in-kind by the members of the RHLIA, so we have zero administrative expenses.
All proceeds donated are being monitor by the local Regiments in Hamilton. The regiments have stepped up to partner with us for this project and their Honorary Colonels are all on the team. Our in-house Military Liaison for the project is Col. Geordie Elms.
Please help make this Monument a reality. It is the first military vehicle of this era to be placed on permanent display in the city of Hamilton since the end of the First World War. It will be dedicated to the 40,000 Canadians that deployed between 2001 and 2014 with a special emphasis to the 158 Canadians that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

A Tribute to Hamiltonians who served in Canadian Armed Forces Afghanistan Operations

The LAV III: Hamilton “Afghanistan Monument” Project was started by the North Wall Riders Association’s Steel City Chapter in the spring of 2015. We received our LAV III purchase approvals from Canada Company on April 29, 2016. We are now in the process of fund raising to bring this decommissoned LAV III to Hamilton, Ontario.

We are currently seeking sponsors for immediate help on the cost of the LAV of $15,000. The balance we are seeking is $25,000 to cover, transport, installation, engineering stamp for installation proposal, plaques and applicable taxes. The unit goes into production in Oct 2016 and will be completed in Dec 2016 with an unveiling planned for spring of 2017.

The LAV III Monument Program Fanshawe trades students will be instrumental in creating the replica elements of the monuments, and will receive school credits for their work.

As you may know Canada took on a large role starting in 2006 after the Canadian troops were redeployed to Kandahar province. There were 2,500 Canadian Forces (CF) personnel in Afghanistan and 1,200 comprised the combat battle group.

The Sacrifice: More than 2000 soldiers were injured during the war between April 2002 to December 2011, Between 2001 and 2014, 158 Canadian soldiers died while on mission in Afghanistan. This is our way to create an everlasting monument to the men and women of the current Canadian Armed Forces.
